Golf History
Golf as we know it today originated from a game played on the eastern coast of Scotland in the Kingdom
of Fife during the 15th century. Players would hit a pebble around a natural course of sand dunes, rabbit
runs and tracks using a stick or primitive club.
In the 500 years that have followed, the game has advanced from one played with simple hand-made
clubs and leather balls stuffed with feathers to the game we know today with it's use of golf clubs
designed by computer and made with space-age materials such as titanium and graphite.
While the rules and courses of golf have become much more systematized, and the technology
employed in the making of clubs and the balls so advanced, actually hitting the golf ball towards the
hole remains a dark art. It is as much a mystery now as it was in shire of Fife in the 1400s!
