The British vs. Zulu Chess Set was designed by Veronese and is cold-cast in a heavy polystone.
This great rivalry themed chess set has twelve different characters making up the thirty-two piece
chess set. Each chess piece is hand-painted with meticulous care. King Size: 3.25". The optional
chess cabinet has a built-in storage compartment that accommodates the chess set's fitted tray
which provides individual and protective slots for each chess piece.

The Story

A Zulu warrior called Shaka had militarized his army to great effect and built a great empire in what is
now Natal - possibly inspired by the white settlers’ idea of one great chief ruling many peoples. But the
British could not bear to see an independent black state under their noses and invaded Zululand with
a small force in 1879, only to be routed by the Zulu army under Shaka’s successor Cetshwayo.
However, the Zulu's victory was short-lived. Reinforcements with the latest technology in machine
guns were brought from Britain to avenge this affront to imperial dignity and Zulu independence was
crushed.

Designed by Veronese, this nicely weighted British vs. Zulu Themed Chess Set is cold cast in
polystone and consists of sixteen chessmen that are British while the other sixteen chessmen are
Zulu. The British vs. Zulu Themed Chess Set makes an ideal present for history buffs or anyone
