Sheesham, often referred to as "golden rosewood", is common to India and is widely used to manufacture
furniture and other various wood products as well as chess sets. Sheesham, a very hard, affordable wood is
relatively easy to carve and is therefore one of the most popular woods used to make inexpensive chess sets. The
heartwood is described as golden brown to deep brown in color, with darker streaks that give the wood an
attractive appearance.

West Indian boxwood is used to make the white chess pieces. Its texture is very fine and uniform and it has a
generally straight grain with a very high luster. It can be turned on a lathe very easily, and its carving characteristics
are described as excellent. Its coloring is usually a very light yellow brown, with a hint of red tones. All of these
characteristic makes boxwood an excellent choice for white chess pieces.

The attractive camphor wood chessboard comes with two built in storage drawers for safe-keeping of your fine
wood chess men. The camphor wood squares and apron, together with the boxwood squares, matching inlay
pattern, and dark wood frame make a fine looking chess set look even that much
