1.5". However, these pieces are very wide in the
body and we are therefore recommending two,
larger than normal, matching chessboards: a 2.2"
glossy blue and a 2.5" glossy gray. We like the gray
chessboard best. But the blue chessboard looks nice
too...just a little more crowded.
